(a) How is The Little Crest different from other play
schools?
The differences are mainly on five critical and high-impact dimensions:
(i)The Little Crest uses a world class early childhood program which has been put together by Dr.Vishala. Vishala is a Ph.D in education and holds a Diploma in early childhood education from University of Auckland, New Zealand. The Little Crest is backed by a management team who are alumni from IIM/XLRI with a deep desire to make a difference to the early childhood education in India. The Little Crest’s advisory board has global luminaries from academia and industry.
(ii) The Little Crest’s goal is to promote multiple intelligences (http://thelittlecrest.com/Dr.GardnerFAQ.pdf) in children in a holistic setting. The Little Crest’s learning areas are organized to facilitate multiple intelligences.
(iii) Our teachers are special people. They are warm, caring and love the company of children. All our teachers are trained in our methods and practices. Only then they are certified as a qualified "The Little Crest" teacher.
(iv) Some of the resource materials that are used at The Little Crest are sourced internationally to support the learning program and to provide a safe environment for children. (Please see question (e) under this section for more details on this)
(v) One of the unique features of The Little Crest’s
method is “Leaps & bounds”. Leaps & bounds is a visual
journal of your child’s magical growing up years. Leaps & bounds
showcases your child’s unique interests and abilities. Most importantly
Leaps & bounds chronicles the rapid strides that your child is making
at The Little Crest.
(b) As a parent, I would like to know how I would be treated at The Little Crest?
The Little Crest's philosophy is to be 'preferred partner' with parents while bringing up children during the formative years. To facilitate this we have regular workshops for parents. This workshop series is called "Effective Parenting" wherein we invite renowned specialists to address the parents of our children about the nuances of child psychology, theatre, story telling, medical sciences, counseling of parents et al.
The Little Crest believes in empowerment of parents. We also follow a ‘open door’ policy with parents.
(c) I am concerned about the quality
of teachers who interact with my child.
Please refer to the answer for Question 1.
(d) Compared to a conventional Preschool, how am likely to experience The Little Crest?
Following things are not done at The Little Crest:
(i) Children are not expected to sit in a class room seating.
(ii) Children are not expected to be attentively listening to teachers
in the class room
(iii) We donot have uniforms and children are expected to wear colored
and comfortable outfits.
(iv) We donot believe in ‘home work’

(e) What is the difference between a toy and resource material used at The Little Crest?
Toys are made by commercial establishments as a ‘flavor of the season’ or a ‘fad’. There is very limited ‘learning content’ or ‘learning value’ in a toy. (anybody heard of Barbie dolls!). Also given that the market for toys is a highly fragmented and competitive market, it is quite likely that the toys available in the market are not only cheap but also sometimes not fit for use by a child (child-unfriendly)
The Little Crest carefully sources the resource materials from known
and certified sources mostly from overseas suppliers. Our criteria for
selection of resource materials are age appropriateness, learning value
& child safety.
