The Little Crest
The Little Crest offers a rich array of resource materials, books, interesting science corner gadgets and out door play equipment. The objective is to let the child indulge in activities of interest without pressure from adults.

We are listing some of the activities that our children are fascinated by and undertake in a typical day:

Puzzles & blocks
Our centers have a puzzle corner with a host of puzzles. You will find a number of our children quietly assembling the pieces of the jigsaw or making a tower or a bridge with the blocks. Puzzles and blocks promote the ‘spatial intelligence’ in children.

The Little Crest

On a typical day you will always find some of our children deeply engrossed with the puzzles and most often they donot need any adult supervision (they may even resist it!).

Library
Library is the most noticeable part of our centres. We provide an enriching environment where children develop their reading habits. This is supplemented with book reading sessions by our teachers.

The Little Crest

We like our children to develop a love for books and library early in their growing years. We also encourage parents to borrow books from our centres and develop the habit of reading a book to your child before putting it to bed!

Art & Craft
Art & craft corner is replete with aids for children to play with colors, paint, crayons, dough, beads et al. This corner promotes the ‘artist’ in the child.

The Little Crest follows a refreshingly different approach away from the ‘beaten track’. We respect each child’s artistic capability. As adults we tend to speak with a superior tone and sit in judgment of a child’s work. At The Little Crest no one is permitted to speak poorly of a child’s creative work.

The Little Crest

Also as an effort to please parents The Little Crest does not resort to the tactic of sending the ‘highly creative effort’ of its teachers work disguised as child’s work!!

Music corner
The Little Crest is committed to promoting musical skills in children. Our centres have an array of musical instruments and CDs. Recitation of rhymes is another dimension to developing musical skills.

Children are also taught ‘all religion prayer’ at school to sensitize them to the rich tradition of India. Parents are encouraged to collect a CD with the recording of the prayer. It would be wonderful if you do reinforce this at home by constantly playing it for your child.

Theatre & story telling
“The center of the stage is where I am” famously said by Martha Graham, American choreographer & teacher.

The Little Crest takes the stage where the child is. We have an extensive collection of hand muppets, theatre props and a magnetic story board. Children also have access to all the resource materials at the ‘dress up’ corner.

The faculty of imitation is strongest at this age, and the children learn by using their body & limbs and the power of observation. On a typical day you would see our children animatedly mimicking an animal character from their favorite story.

Outdoor sandpit area
All of our centres have an attractive, safe and exciting outdoor play area for children. The sand pit is an all day favorite with children. Outdoor play promotes kinesthetic intelligence.

Given the challenges of finding safe and secure play area for children is progressively a challenge for young parents

The Little Crest

Teachers are keen to make observations of each child’s learning during the free play period. You will find their observations in your child’s ‘Leaps & bounds’.

Science corner
“Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire” said W. B. Yeats – the renowned Irish poet.

At The Little Crest we believe that children are naturally inquisitive. We believe that all that we need to provide them with is a set of interesting learning aids and watch them learn and grow. There is a mix of self-discovery and teacher directed learning when appropriate.

It is not unusual to see one of our children running towards the teacher with the horse-shoe magnet having “ a Eureka moment”!

Outdoor water play area

The Little Crest provides a enriching & safe water play area. Children are provided with water-proof aprons while they enjoy themselves. Typical aids provided are water wheels, boats, floatation gadgets etc.

On a warm sunny day, you would notice our children playing endlessly at the water wheel.

Garden area
Amidst the lush green lawn, you will find our children rolling and jumping and soaking in the outdoors! We also have interesting flowers, potted plants and bird feeder to let children enjoy the outdoors.

There is no better place for your child to discover & understand plant life and grow up to be a ‘naturalist’.

Field Trips
Visits to new and exciting places are a part of the learning experience planned. Safety is a major priority and this would largely influence the field trip destination and the experience. Trips also include visits to library, park, supermarket and a farm. Some of our field trips do have a related fee. Parents will be notified in advance of the outing and its cost. We invite your attendance on any trip.
